Utah winter roads are brutal on your vehicle. Road salt and magnesium chloride don't just make your car look dirty—they cause permanent oxidation and rust. Here are seven expert tips from the blüm team to protect your investment this winter.

1. Rinse Frequently (The 24-Hour Rule) Don't let salt sit. Try to rinse your undercarriage and wheel wells within 24 hours of a storm. Salt is hygroscopic, meaning it pulls moisture from the air to accelerate the rusting process.

2. Upgrade to a Ceramic Coating Traditional wax lasts weeks; a professional ceramic coating lasts years. It creates a semi-permanent hydrophobic shield that prevents salt from bonding to your clear coat.

3. Never Use Automatic Brush Washes The "gas station wash" is your paint's worst enemy. Those brushes trap salt and grit from the truck that went in before you, essentially sandpapering your finish. Always opt for touchless or professional hand detailing.

4. Protect Your Wheels Your rims are closest to the salt. We recommend applying a high-temp wheel sealant or ceramic coating to your wheels to prevent "pitting" and corrosion.

5. Seal Your Undercarriage The most damage happens where you can't see it. Ensure your detailer applies an undercarriage rinse to neutralize salt in the brake lines and chassis.

6. Don't Forget the Door Jams Salt spray finds its way into every crevice. Wipe down your door jams and trunk seals after every wash to prevent the metal frames from bubbling and rusting over time.

7. Join the Everblüm Membership Winter protection isn't a "one and done" task. Our Everblüm Membership provides monthly maintenance to ensure your protective layers are topped up and salt-free all season long.
